The book bindery refers to a workshop where sheets of paper are fastened together to make books, but also where foiling and other decorative elements are added to the exterior of books, where boxes or slipcases for books are made and where the finishings of books is carried out.

The workshop is divided into areas of different tasks such as sewing, attaching the boards to the book and covering the book with cloth or leather and other materials. This area of the bindery has equipment such as sewing machines, guillotines, board choppers for cutting boards used as covers, laying presses for holding bookswhen being worked on and nipping presses for creasing the book hinge.
